Years ago Pippa Funnell (well, it was before she married actually) had a near-whoopsy at the Vicarage ditch (when it was a yawning ditch with straight rail behind, not angled) where the horse she was on didn't really get his front legs out of the way, hit the fence at chest height ish, slithered over, and stayed upright (with her still on). What horse was she on, please? I think it was Sir Barnaby, friend thinks it was Cartoon. or maybe Metronome? thanks!

I think it was Sir Barnaby but i will check her biography over lunch! if i remember correctly i don't think she had any 'perfect' badminton runs on him or in the early years - she alway had a whoopsy somewhere!?

I have a video of this, it was Sir Barnaby, but he cleared it with his front end (took off way too early) and hit the fence with his stifles - and rocketed her out the plate.
Horse stayed upright.

I don't remember that but having seen lots of other footage of Sir Barnaby and the other two, it wouldn't surprise me if it were Sir B because he always looked a bit ditchy (cottesmore leap!) and had a knack of creeping up to things looking like he was going to stop and somehow finding his way to the other side the right way up!

Yep, Sir Barnaby for definite. It's on the Road to the Top video. Her XC riding was a tad ropey in the early years!

Oh, I've just remembered that she finished 5th in 1990, so it has to be 1989! Or is it the other way around?! Oh dear, I'm getting old....
