Evening all,
I am looking at trailers and looking for some feedback from those who tow trailers.

Ifor 505 (or similar models) are popular and I have used one for coblet (14.2) is there enough head room for a 16.2 comfortably or do I really need to be looking at the 510 model???

Have considered the Batesons as they are lighter, but how well do they tow?

You'd probably be better off with a 510 for a 16.2, it's not only the headroom but the length that you need to consider. i had a 505 but it was just slightly too short for my 16.1 to travel in comfortably with the partition in so I traded it in for a 510.
No experience of the Batesons sorry

The Bateson has a higher roof than the Ifor 505, it's actually 7'03" tall & is advertised to carry up to 17h. I used to have a Bateson Deauville & I regularly carried 16h2" horses in it with no problem at all. I'd recommend them, they are well build, tow very smoothly & quietly & they retain their value. I far prefer them to the Ifors.

I agree about the 505 being too small for a 16.2 length wise.
I believe the Batesons give a far superior ride to Ifors as Ifors are on leaf springs.

I really don't see why everyone wants an "ifor" TBH....

They are rattly, quite claustraphobic, "boaty" around corners, dont always offer the smoothest rideand very, very nickable!

i much prefer a Richardson..and as TZ has said, a Bateson.

After having bought and sold on Ifor, i wouldn't be in too much of a hurry to get another

Ive got an Ifor william 510 and really like it. Carries my 17hh really well. Hes not the best traveller as he tends to get sweatied up in wagons but always travels well in it. Got a tack locker in the front and still has plenty of space. Is parked up for 3weeks + sometimes and have never had any problems with it.

IMHO
Its because IWT are well priced, is now a known and trusted brand and have a good resale value, not because they are the best,
