Marnie is a 16hh cob who is very active and forward going. In the last 4 weeks or so, I have noticed her forging a fair bit. She was shod last week and isn't doing it anywhere near as much, but is still doing it.

Her feet were quite long, could this be the reason? Are there any other reasons for forging?

Thanks!

Being on the forehand can cause forging- as I have learnt recently

I wouldn't really say that she is on her forehand, she uses her hocks well and is really quite light in front - sometimes a bit too light!!

Thinking about it though, I have been riding her less, and when she loses muscle, she is uneven behind on one diagonal, she has a slight hotspot on her pelvis seen by bonescan, when she is fully muscled it doesn't cause her any problems, but leaves her uneven on the one diagonal. I did notice that she was a little uneven yesterday, I wonder if this is causing her to do it?
