Sway back? Dad says it occurs in sheep, and further googling says it appears in dogs. Tykes 17, in January. And very weak on his back legs. They're wondering if it is swayback?
Does anyone have an definitions / information regarding it? :)

Swayback is just an anatomical thing in dogs, a dipped back.

I would actually query CDRM at his age, and he is a GSD cross, right?
Does he ever scuff his back paws when he walks on concrete, or is unable to flex his back paws properly?

Ask your vet.

Yup he;s a GSD X Lab. CDRM?.. He has one paw, which is always roughly 90 degrees, if you get me?
 
Yep, it's quite common in older, larger, weight-bearing breeds.
It's basically when the messages from the brain are not transmitted to the nerves properly, it starts in the rear end (and is commonly mistaken for hip dysplasia) and gradually comes forward.

Don't go on internet diagnosis, it's just a suggestion, please ask your vet or PM Harkback, who is very knowledgeable about it.

Thank you Cavecanem. Im glad you've replied, as ive always admired your knowledge!
The foot, is apparently, due to old age, and nothing to worry about. He's in the vets Monday, so he'll be being checked out.

We've had two dogs with it ourselves, that's all and they both went 'down' on their back legs, the scuffing is an early signal.
Like I say, people do confuse it with hip dysplasia which is obviously a joint thing, not a nervous/neurological thing.
