Finally uploaded some snowy pictures!
But also have a question. Our youngster is 3 rising 4, and I think fairly nicely put together. But I am used to my arab's paces, and he has that araby 'float' to his trot/canter, so I am not great at spotting good paces on other horses as I look for that arab movement I guess.
But judges have said to OH when showing our youngster that he has nice paces (tbh when buying I was looking for sound and sane rather than spectacular!) - but I always assumed that they pretty much say that to everyone?!
But as of the last couple of weeks, he has SUDDENLY developed this amazing elevated trot - he has done it accross the field three times now and my jaw nearly hit the floor! Now I know getting that under saddle will take many years if we ever manage it at all, but is it normal for horses to 'grow into' their legs and go from gangling slightly clumsy beasts to something rather more balanced and impressive all by themselves? Or has he always had that trot lurking and only now decided to share it with us?! Would be interested to hear other people's opinions

And some snowy pony pics for the sake of it

Cute pics! I have a 4 year old, and sometimes i wonder if he as any awareness of his long legs as he seems to trip over them a fair bit, but a few times, sometimes when i've been riding him, but usually in the field when he is excited he does an AMAZING trot! Like he thinks he's still a stallion or something, his neck arches and his tail comes up, and he does a beautifully springy trot. I think, with mine at least, its just the case of they do have it in them to do nice paces but at that age it depends on whether or not they feel like doing it!

Ours is the same sitting_pretty, he's got huge long legs and often seems to forget what order they go in, but then so do kids I guess! Hope one day we can recreate that trot under saddle!
