I have a friend who rides a young pony who has had a blood test which has said he’s a rig, her hacking isn’t to good where she is and she has asked me if she could go out with me in the trailer with my gelding, her pony hasn’t met my gelding before, and has never been out with another horse let alone travel with another horse. I’m not sure if her pony will find it all to much , so a yay or a neigh. Thankyou.

Would depend on what the other pony is like with other horses and how sensitive yours is too.
Maybe pick her up to hack out with yours and see what they are like hacking together before travelling together.

Why would her pony find it too much? If he's generally a nice natured horse who's polite with other horses, and yours is too, surely there's a good chance it'll be ok? And when you say "never been out with another horse" do you mean never hacked with another horse? Just because the blood test has indicated he's a rig I wouldn't immediately assume he's some sort of head case - I'd probably judge by the behavour of the two horses instead. Twiggy's suggestion sounds like the best way of testing things, try hacking out together first to see how the horses get on.

Thankyou for your reply’s, my gelding is a laid back lad, I don’t know enough about rigs , hence me saying it might be to much for him, and he’s only 3 1/2 . yes this pony has never hacked out with a strange horse, other than his field companion.

Why was her gelding tested for hormones?. If it's because of his behaviour, I wouldn't have him anywhere near your youngster if he can't quickly be separated if there is an issue.

What is the history of the pony that they say it is a rig? Vets won't normally just remove one testicle if one is in the abdomen but take it in so both can be removed.
I don't see any reason he should be a problem unless it is usually badly behaved but I'd let them get to know each other a bit before travelling together.

she bought this young cob off gypsys , they told her he was gelded, he can be naughty being ridden at times ( tanking off,not listening to his rider) , and he mounts his field companion, so she had him tested. Thankyou for your reply’s I’m going to pick him up on his own and bring him here.

Mmmm....yes travelling him on his own sounds sensible. Do be careful hacking with him if he takes off and ignores his rider. I hope this is a very good friend, I wouldn't be wanting to ride out with that! Is she certain that he's properly backed? Sounds like it might be worth starting all over again from the beginning to make sure he understands what he's being asked.
