I Googled this doesn't seem to a lot on this particular shading on bay foals...
My bay foal has counter shading across her back, no dorsal stripe or strips on legs.
Dam is dark bay/black and tan, sire is black (Ee) and carries red gene.
The mares first foal is black from a bay sire (EeAa) this foal also at birth had same stripes across back but also had stripes on legs when first born.
So does this counter shading come from a possible buckskin gene from my mare only or a black gene?
The mares sire is bay and dam was black.
Any ideas?!
