I am not yet qualified to be on the BHS register but I am fully insured, as I have been asked to teach by someone on my yard to give them the (very) one off lesson on their own horse.
SEIB provided me with rider registration forms but I am now wondering how I would go about reporting an accident if one were to happen. I work for an EC and the accident report forms are through the BHS, do they provide also provide them for freelance instructors and will they do so considering I am not 'qualified'?
Sorry I feel it is a rather daft question to be asking but my insurance policy doesn't mention anything about the correct recording and reporting of accidents (though I will look again in case I have missed it) and the procedure has always been very simple at work, fill in the form then hand it back. I have no dealings with the accident report forms once they have been filled in so I am unsure if there is a 'next step'. Other than serious injuries that must be reported are the other general spills and bumps that come from falling off, having toes stood on, etc just noted and left? Is it the same for freelance instructors do you fill the forms out, keep them on file and report the serious falls?
