Question to users of Dr Cookes bridles

I always get mine twisted and tangled- any tips how not to do this, even if I start out ok. Also my horse has a lot of hair under his face and I worry that the bridle does not run smoothly and release because of this- any advise welcome. Thanks.
 
i used to straighten it out then pull the cross under straps as loose as they could go - so the rings the reins clip too were at the ring that the straps slide through- that greatly helped with putting on and removal as really loosened it and kept it straighter. I also used leather reins hooked on instead of the dr cook reins as didn't like the clip. Never had an issue with the long winter coat round the head.
