Blimey - just been on ebay to try and get a bargain waterford to try and it says that you need a bigger size than you would normally have. My mare is normally 5.5 and 6 ins just seems excessive. Any tips please - ooh yeah and is there anyone out there who uses one. thankies xxx

Try Neue Schule if you want 1/4 inch increments in bits, not the cheapest but good quality and due to the 1/4 inch you can get a proper fit.

I use a waterford one of mine, his is quite green and tries to lean on my hands, the waterford gives him nothing to lean on.

Any waterford bit you go up half an inch to normal snaffle measurement (apart from pelham) so that it curls around the outside of the lips. (You dont want this with a pelham as it will make the curb chain invalid.)

You dont have to as it wont/shouldn't pinch as it wraps round the outside of the lips. I have a cheltenham gag & dont have guards on that & it has never pinched him. Its down to what you feel best.
