Hi,
Im thinking since I may end up working in the UK if things dont pick up around here, I might as well see if I can find out about buying a horse in GB.
I currently have a 3yo NH bred gelding - who will stay in Ireland for the forseeable future.
I have been offered a lovely TB gelding ex pointer on loan from friends once I get set up (if I stay here). I have also been offered ex racehorses (for free) via a number of trainers that I know - just have to say the word. S thats my intention should I stay here - pick up a TB ready to start work (or needing a few mths let down, either is fine).
How easy is it to source such racehorses in the UK?
Other than that Id be interested in youngsters (3yrs+) 15.2+ any lightweight/middleweight, breeding not really important but price would certainly haveto be less than £2000. Would prefer to have one already broken, but have lots of experience in that field so not a big issue if its unbroken.
Thesedays, those sort of horses exist in Ireland - usually cost less than 1000euro. Is it the same in the UK - a lot of the ones I see in that bracket on sales websites have been spoilt.
Ok, I know this is a longwinded way of asking!
Basically, Im asking about the possibility of getting an unspoilt youngster who would hopefully do a bit of BSJA/RC/BE in the next few years and isnt going to cost the earth. Can it be done easily in the UK?
