I've been put in charge of organising a quiz for the relatively non-horsey but helpful other halves who come to my yard at the yard xmas do next week.

Any ideas? Am thinking multiply choice so its not too difficult?

Olympic and paralympic riders - pictures.
Odd one out (stick a football player in with the Olympic eventing team). Name that horse (include eg Joey from War Horse, Frankel etc).
What is it - pictures of various bits, parts of bridles, stirrup etc.
Name the famous equestrian eg Martin Clunes, Zara Phillips, Prince Harry or William playing polo, Jennifer Saunders, Harvey Smith and throw a famous jockey in there too.

I would make it even more basic as well such as "name 3 tools used for mucking out" or silly ones like, what animal can you find on a horse (frog). Would probably steer away from the money ones (naughty Honey!)
..

I'd have a photo of each horse on the yard plus a few extra miscellaneous horses and ask the OH's to match the horse to the owner. My hubbie would have no idea which was mine! When my friend was riding my old cob a few years ago she bumped into my hubby, he said "oh which horse is this?", loved her response "the one you paid for"!!!

Name the part of a horse which shares its name with a reptile. Frog

Name the part of a horse which shares its name with a German wine. Hock

Name the part of a horse which shares its name with a fungus found in corn. (clue, it's on the back of the fetlock joint.) Ergot.

Name the part of the horse that shares its name with something you'd eat roasted or put in stuffing at Christmas. Chestnut.

Name the part of the horse that is what you'd like to do to the Mother in Law after Christmas lunch. Stifle.

Name the part of the horse that it sounds as if the horse is going to shoot at you with, or maybe preach to you instead. Cannon bone.

Name the part of the horse that sounds like something you'd find in a funeral parlour. Coffin bone.

Name the part of the horse that sounds like it is shrivelling away. Withers.

Name the part of the horse that shares its name with an election. Poll

Basic colours and name the tack piece? keep it fairly simple - stirrups, girths, numnas?

Knowing what non-horsey OH tend to do down the yard then a match the rug to the season and perhaps a tongue in cheek name the mucking out implement... :)

Depending on how your yard works and again knowing about what a lot of non-horsey OH do then maybe a name the tractor bits and/or harrow, roller, other drag behindy thing plus some DIY tools :)

Passage.

Those (and the others) are FANTASTIC!

Those are great :D Its a fine balance getting the difficulty right I think, most of them come to the yard quite a lot and help out so will know tools ect and perhaps some grooming brushes but I don't want to make it too easy/hard.

Reckon those ones would be quite a laugh with everyone to be honest, as some of them make you think a bit!
