Hi there

I saw that some of you come from around Cardiff and hope you can answer my questions. I had quite a few horse shares back home in Germany but had to stop a couple of years ago due to university and moving country twice.
Now that I am staying here in Cardiff for the next 3-4 years I am thinking about taking up a share from October again if jobwise everything goes well ie I'll have the money.

First, a few general questions: If I get that right, a loaned horse still be belongs the owner but the loaner treats it like its own, pays for everything and has full responsability. What is the difference between part loan and share? Who is paying what, who has which responsibilities etc.
What would a typical arangement for a horse share look like?
How many days the sharer gets, does he/she pay a fixed price, what happens in case of a big vet bill?

Now the Cardiff related question: What does a horse share in this area normally cost?
I am perfectly aware that this will depend on the yard, the horse, the number of days etc. I just would like to get a rough idea.
Where is a good place to look for offers/ put up an advert?

Thanks in advance
Andrea

A part loan or share tend to mean the same thing, where the loaner rides the horse on set days and pays a set amount to do so.

As for where to look or place an advert, try the freeads or preloved websites, or have a look at the notice boards in the local Countrywide (Wenvoe) or Robinsons (Taffs Wells). Which part of Cardiff are you living? I can't help with what a share would cost, since moving here I have just ridden and schooled horses for the owner rather than paid for a share :) Good luck!

I agree with above countrywide and robinsons are good places to look. Depending on how many days a week you ride will depend on how much its going to cost. If your just riding for someone then money towards shoes i think is fair, if your sharing 1/2 the week then 1/3 or 1/2 the bills. I used to share a pony years ago and paid 1/2 on everything.
