Well, I have a potential buyer coming to view one of my horses tomorrow. I can think of plenty of questions I would ask if I was buying a horse, but as I have never been in the position as a 'seller' before I was just wondering what sort of things I need to ask them? Also, those of you who have sold horses from home (who don't have the use of a school) what did you do as in the way of ridden work?

Any advice please. :o

It depends what you are selling the horse for,If it is a hack that is probably what the buyers will want to do.
Otherwise show it in the stable or field, they may wish to see it trot up.
Then tack up show it in all paces, dont spend ages so that it gets tired ,
then ask if they would like to see it jump ,sometimes people like to ride on the flat before they see the horse jump so give them a choice.
Show it over a few jumps, ask if they would like to see any more, then hopefully they will try it and it will go really well:D
They may wish to take it on the road to see traffic.
Think of some questions to ask them,it shows you care about your horse.I usually ask where and how they plan on keeping it,what do they want to do in the future.Be clear when answering the questions they will ask you.
Good luck ,hope all goes well.

Well, she is a young pony who has mainly hacked out as I have nowhere to ride her at home so I will be riding her through my village to a bridleway where I will show her in trot and canter. She hasn't done much jumping and will need to start from scratch with that which they are aware of so won't need to show her over a fence. Hopefully, then they will have a go and can ride her around the track along the bridleway and go for a canter in they wish. If they like her and get on well with her then I will let them hack her back home through the village. Hopefully this will be ok, it's awkward not having anywhere to ride in but they do know this and I think an enclosed track is probably the next best thing rather than letting them get on straight on the road!!
