queue of birds (feathered variety!) at feeding time

Every evening and every morning when I feed the horses I have a robin and a blackbird that queue up to be fed. The robin sits on my bridle and waits til I put his favourite food in (Dobson and Horrell 16+) and then hops down and fills his fat little face. The blackbird sits in the doorway (he is a bit scared of robin

but not of me). Then when the robin has had enough he hops in and stuffs his face too

They are so cute and so friendly. I nearly trod on the blackbbird this morning, he was standing next to me and I didn't see him

I call them as I go up the path to the stables and they wait at the door for me to open it, They are so regular I would worry if they didn't show up

Anyone else have any feathered friends who have to be catered for?

I know the local robins and blue tits live off the bits my ponies drop!!

I did once have a mouse that lived in the pallets which hold my muck heap in. He used to totter out every morning at feed time and I'd hand him a pony nut and give him a stroke. He was weeny.

That lasted about a month and after that I never saw him again.

He probably upped sticks and moved into the hay barn!!!!

I have 3 male phesants, that attack my haylage as soon as i uncover the round bale in the mornings and grab all the seeds off the meadow grasses

I have a robin that hangs around too. He is there when I mix the feeds and then follows me out to the field. I usually put a handful out for him, he likes 16+ too!

He has been about for the last two or three winters, I don't see him in the summer.

No sadly not around the barn. I have 8 barn cats, a couple of red tailed hawks, and at least one fox that I know of, the birds stay well away from the ground and the barns. I do have loads of birds, they don't lower themselves to eat horsefood but wait for the expensive gourmet stuff to be put in the feeders at the front of the house.

we get loads of blackbirds to, we throw them raisins they absolutely love them!
