My gelding is turned out everyday with his friend. They are always grooming each other and constantly play. Today however, they have had a bit of a fight. Apparently, Bobby (friends pony) has cornered Mac and had a go at him. Mac tried to go through fence (electric) got shocked and legged it up field. Bob has chased him and cornered him again and Mac kicked out and caught Bob on the shoulder. Both of them have been brought in (only out for 2 hours at the moment because of winter turnout). Both are fine, covered in mud though! What I need to know is, is this normal behaviour and do I turn them out together as normal tomorrow? Having regular daily turnout is all new to me and Bob's owner and we want to what is best. Pair of them have gone out together for over a year, but has only been this year that they have gone out daily together as we moved yards.

if they have been kept in for some time duie to einter and this was their first time out again for a while then the 'herd' hierachy will be started again as such. My lad was on 3 months box rest - was put out and him and his so called best mate - kicked the whatsit out of eachother - after the initial outing they did calm down. Is there any way that they can go in field next to each other where they can touch for a couple of days and then put them in together - other thing - stay and watch them and leave headcollars on so that they can be caught quickly

I would separate them for a few days. Sounds like they have had a tiff. A few days alone will help them realise the value of each other.

Neither of them have been kept in since move to new yard at beginning of January.

There is a rota system at the yard for the winter turnout, so will turn them out 1 at a time for an hour each for a couple of days and hope they get over it. They are normally so close, but I suppose that like us, they have tiffs.
