If an item is lost in the post, who raises the claim with royal mail, buyer or seller? First time its happened to me as a seller and not sure what to do!
Wait 14 days, get or download lost letter form, do a copy of your selling note, and make a claim. £ 20 max comp in normal post £ 50 if signed for service was used, but this service will not cover money, jewellery or vouchers/ tickets. Must produce certificate of posting with claim form, good idea to do copies of all you sent to Royal Mail..
I do have proof of posting, i've posted to the buyers address on the order details, they've opened a claim after 32 days with no other contact to say it hadnt been received and they wanted a full refund, the address on the claim has a different postcode to the one i've sent to. I've explained that to them, they won't communicate to me through the resolution center, only through ebay messages. So the claim won't move forward til they respond through res center, and they don't seem to acknowledge that they've given me two different postcodes, just keep coming out with 'I want a full refund and i'm going through paypal to get it'. If the postcode on their ebay account was incorrect and I sent it to that address, is it my fault and should I refund and go through royal mail to recoup my loss? Just seems ever so slightly dodgy.
Is there anyway you can ask Ebay if they have had similar issues with this buyer before? I would always use recorded delivery if selling through ebay, to me proof of delivery is more safe than proof of postage.
