I am with the 2 letter company who people do not speak highly of so looking to change...

I've just had a quote from KBIS for Vet fees (all) with 3rd party and personal accident liability and the value I want for Harry and it's £33 a month.

Is that pretty good/bad/in between? Lol

Around what I pay. If you have BHS gold membership you do not need third party insurance or personal accident insurance so these can be removed from the horse policy reducing the cost. Also the cost of the policy is directly related to the 'insured value' of the horse so don't bump up the value! If the death payment doesn't matter too much to you then you can reduce the insured value and will have an accordingly cheaper insurance.

Thanks, the 3rd party and personal is only £26 for the year anyways so it's the vets cover that's making up most of it. I've insured him for what I paid for him but didn't think about the fact that that only comes into account if he dies/gets stolen/lost so maybe I'll reduce that.

I've just noticed that that's based on their most comprehensive vet fees cover as well, just wondering if it's worth it for a 3 year old... Hmmm....

Oh my god yes it's worth it!! My foal had £10k worth of claims (3 claims) in 7 months!!!!! The most expensive vets bills are nothing to do with riding or age!!

Thanks, I thought so :) I'd rather he was covered for everything and nothing happen than the other way around. Some people have told me otherwise but hey ho, they also don't have insurance lol...

Couldn't do that, I'd never have enough to cover the vets bills if Harry did something to himself.

That cantbe right as my horse is 1.5k and a quote I got with 2.5k vets fees and death cover (which was compulsary with vets) was £160. For my 2 yr old who is just £150 in worht I was £120 - for same cover.

Who are you insured with?? Admittedly, I've put harry's value down as more than that which is probably why it's more than £300 a year so maybe I should reduce it...

Im insured with * ^* too and I managed to get my insurance renewal with them cheaper than what I was paying ,and the value of the horse was bit higher too. (by them(.Theyre not that bad.
They are better now than they used to be.
