Hi all, quick question.... have just rung insurance company to let them no my boy is going to need a bone scan. They said they cover for bone scans but can't say weather they will pay out until we get results - and they decide who is liable. Is this normal just to cover their backs?? Horse has no previous injury or claims so nothing that should come up as pre existing. Thanks in advance

This is normal, insurance companies won't pre-approve claims. They won't make a decision until they have the full details of the claim in front of them. The result of the scan shouldn't be a factor though, may be worth clarifying that? If they cover bone scans, the vet has recommended the procedure and the horse has no exclusions I would have thought that those were the important factors.
