How much weight would a well built 16.1 TB, in good health, be able to take by the law of averages.....not sure what he'd weigh for a start.

He's defo TB looking but has a good bit of bone....not spindly! If he was coming in at 550, surely he'd be able to carry up to 15 stone using the 20% rule - or have I got that all wrong!

Thanks

well my tb is 16.2 and about 500kg in summer. I keep my weight around 10st as i would feel uncomfortable for her and for me if i was heavier. I wouldn't let anyone over about 12st on her back. She isn't a spindly sort either, although not chunky. ex pointer so not terribly fine. I would never put 15 stone on her back, sorry.

I wasn't going to put someone of 15 stone on! Just wondered how that 20% rule works as that seems alot of weight for a TB!!!

My old tb hunted with 15 stone on his back for 4 years no problem. My very lightweight 15.2hh raced with 12 stone on her back no problems and I would hack her out at 12 stone

Is it just me or are people a bit precious nowadays about how much their horses can carry? Im not saying all 16.2 TB's could carry 15 stone at all but I think a 12stone limit at 16.2 is a bit cautious............

I reckon your boy could probably take 14 stone vic........ ( I best get eating less!! LOL)

Glad someone does LOL LOL!! My old irish TB carried 14stone no probs, (hacking dressage etc), and was hunted by a man in his younger days who was probably about that. Never had a back person out in his life, rarely lame (and never due to his back etc, more from hooning about and triping over his own legs/feet int he field!).............. Tis a horse after all!
