I posted a couple of threads yesterday asking what to do about my ex racer who lost one of her front shoes and I'm still undecided whether to go the whole way and take the other off or put her other shoe back on but I'm really not happy with her shod feet. Any way I thought it would be useful to post some pictures of her other hooves and get some feedback, I think her backs look ok but I'm not very knowledgable in the area so advice appreciated. She was a lot more sound today, a bit ouchy on really uneven bits but striding out quite nicely around the field.

Would you take this horse barefoot, I seriously can't decide what's best right now!

Her backs look pretty good so I'd give it a go. You'll probably need some front boots for hacking out for a while though.

I am 10 months into being barefoot. Have kept a diary and photos since the shoes were removed on first day. I would not have been able to do it without hoof boots and my TB has done very well in his Cavallos, he is a 15.2 hands, started off in a size 3 and is now a size 2. We are now progressing to barefoot on the roads but still booted up off road. School barefoot in the sand school. It wasn't easy. Phoenix barefoot is a great site and there are some regular forum advisors on here who know a lot about going barefoot. But, if I am honest, it took 3 months of sheer hell, 6 months of being 50/50 and its only now that we are getting somewhere but my chap did have appalling hooves to start off with.

Thank you for that, I don't expect it to be easy but its something I want to do to ensure her long term soundness, with the way they are at the moment I have nightmares about navicular, strained ligaments and tendons etc...
