How do you introduce a young horse to fairly bigish country?
As a four year old, my mare has been hunting twice, both times, for a short amount of time, but is generally sane, sensible and wasn't phased by it.
But now as a rising 6 year old, I'd like to take her out a bit more, to experience it more, (and having decided that I won't be put in any more dangerous situations by the older insane horse!), I'm missing the hunting scene (not been yet this year, I normally go every weekend!).
So the question is, how do you introduce your young horses to bigger stuff, and the different ground conditions? Were with the Atherstone, which isn't massive, but some of the Leicestershire hedges are rather large! So, do I get a good lead and keep confident?
I probably should add that Spanner is actually a very brave little mare, and she has done a small teamchase this year, and a lot more XC than SJ.
Thanks for any suggestions.
