.....just to clarify..

the fit of a saddle ( ie..narrow/medium/wide) is actually determined by the gullet width and is stamped on the stirrup bar usually?

So a saddle with M stamped on the stirrup bar....no matter how wide it is lower down between the stuffing......is a medium fit?

( it hasn't been altered or had a new tree out in or anything BTW)

Cheers muchly:D

To put it simply - no.

The width is determined by the angle of the points rather than the gullet and I've never had a saddle with anything other than "made in England" stamped on the stirrup bars.

Really?

Several of mine are stamped with the width on the stirrup bars.....Ideal and Jeffries.

Angle of points is perhaps what I'm meaning.....the width accross the top that clears withers/spine determines the fit....not how wide the saddle is accross the front where the knee rolls are...?

Are you a saddle fitter?
