Quick question - can you wear a hunt coat for showing/dressage?

I have my first show with Jazz in a few weeks (eek), it's a local agricultural society show and well be doing the tack and turnout class and the riding club horse class. I don't have a jacket that fits me so will need to buy one, I've seen a very nice tweed which is within budget, the only thing is that it's a hunt coat as opposed to a hacking jacket.

Will that be acceptable for low-level showing and dressage? Now we've got transport I'm hoping to get out as much as we can to local classes.

Yes, but you may well cook.
I only ever showjumped in my autumn hunting tweed, I did stand out a bit. I know SJ doesn't maybe have the same rules but tweed is smart so I don't see why not.

I have done dressage in a black hunt coat. It was a filthy wet day so just put on the warmest/waterproofest thing I had.
People wear all sorts of coats these days. I'm sure you'll be fine

I'm in Scotland ... chances are I'll need the heat and the waterproofing for summer shows I'm planning to ask for a LW black show jacket for my birthday anyway, so at least I can change to that sometimes!
