Quick question - extra rug needed tonight?

Welsh sec D - not clipped, has medium weight turnout rug on.

In at night (livery), weather forecast said might be minus 10 tonight.

Would you put a fleece under his rug as he will be in stable so not moving around.

Will have a hay bar stuffed to the brim.

Old pony lived out 24/7/365 so I'm not use to stabling routines.

YO said last night he dug himself a nest in stable - would you say this was a sign he was cold...or just confirmation that he is a clever native and doesn't need another poncey rug?

I'm inclined to say the latter

I have noticed that I am trusting my instincts less now that I am on livery yard and being influenced by what other people are doing and questioning myself!

If hes not clipped and stable is free from drafts then MW is just fine.

I have a fully clipped welsh who is just in a MW stable rug and she is just fine. If she is wet or cold underneath when coming in etc I put a LW full neck stable rug underneath.
