I am going to try the method you all recommend of steaming my hay...just to clarify...I will use a bin, put my haynet of loose hay in, pour over 1 kettle of water and lid on for 20-30 mins...is that right please?
Also, does the kettle of water go directly onto the hay, rather than in the bottom of the bin please?
Very many thanks..

I have no idear but "steaming" is normal (humans) hot water in a bin then face over top so mabey same for hay? sorry not much help but i would of thought it was in bucket

Another thing you might like to consider is getting a cheap wallpaper steamer from B&Q or similar... I'm told (tip from another forum) it's a simple matter to connect it to a dustbin and to be really sophisticated you can plug it into in a timer so your hay is ready steamed for whenever you want it!

This works very well but make sure you get one with a large water reservoir if you are doing more than one haynet or you'll be refilling it constantly!
