i just have a quick question dont know if anyone can help me

i have a 14.2hh trotter x cob but more the build of a trotter than a chunky cob ,he is short backed and i wanted to know what his ideal weight should be as i cant find the info anywhere
he weighs 323kg at the moment

are there any websites around that tell you the weights different breeds should be ?

thanks

No hard and fast rule......build, height etc will all play a part in what your horse SHOULD weigh.
If you cannot see any sign of rib, but can easily feel them, your horse will be pretty spot on.

Even two identical horses will vary depending how much muscle they have. My 14.2 connie x tb used to weigh 508kg on a weighbridge, with not a bit of fat on her. According to breed standards, that is way too heavy. But without seeing her in the flesh you wouldn't know that she measured 14.2 unfit & has no withers, so looked a lot bigger. And at that point was fit enough to be going strong still at the end of a two horse days hunting. Just very bulked up with muscle. So its impossible to give a correct weight for your horse. And weight tapes are invariably wrong.
