after riding today in thw wind and rain and god only knows what we went through, my boots and treads did not seem to like each other and no matter how hard i try my feet kept slipping out my stirrups! this really annoys me specially when im troting pretty quick down a road im not too keen to be on, so have been going through ebay and found these treads http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Cheese-Grater-Stir...1QQcmdZViewItem im unsure i know it says they mark the bottom of boots but tp me not much of a problem, even if i have to put them on another pair of irons, anything to make me feel a bit better in rain nd whatever else??
any other suggestions are welcome. thank-you xx

Lordy I've been working like a slave getting those auctions up for the 10p listing and have whooping cough to boot!

Anyway we decided to stock lots of different types of treads, as I got p*ssed off with my stirrups slipping. The reality is that the normal rubber treads don't work the minute you get a weeny bit of mud or wet.

The cheese graters are excellent you should be able to get off walk through a muddy gateway and still have grip when you get back on! This is why most eventers have swapped to them, as cannot really afford to have a stirrup slip XC.

I like the idea of these stirrup treads but I'm assuming you can't run your stirrups up when you untack with these on and is there any chance they'll mark the saddle as well?

Sorry to hijack post. Just curious.

No the first bit of cheese grater is at least 1 cm in from the edge of the stirrup, so no chance of damaging saddle.

I guess you could accidentially scratch your stirrup leathers - but I don't get mud from my treads on my leathers, so think this would be unlikely.

Thanks for clearing that up. I'd always wondered and this put me off as I thought I might have to remove stirrups each time I rode! LOL
