Hey guys! Long time no see...or the internet equivalent!

Havnt posted for a long time now, been a very busy boy! As some of you might know, i am a working man now! Apprentice to dressage rider gareth hughes, and i love it!

Tia is going well, had a really bad couple of weeks to start with whilst she aclimatised to the dressage lark, but has come good and is working really sweetly (gareth doesnt shout at me half as much as he did to start with) just about mastered canter half pass now

On the competition front, not been up to much really! Went to a talent spotting type thing run be u21's uk, sort of like bryds only not. came 3rd out of the 8 open riders which was a bit dissapointing, but the comments was i didnt show my horse off as well in teh ride off as teh other riders (bit hard seeing as i was on a novice horse and tehy were on PSG horses???)
Taking her out to solihull next week for 2 elementarys so fingers crossed she goes well there. Got my entry forms through today for the novice open regionals so looking
forward to that (not THAT long now)

So yeah, tomorrow is my day off so planning a lie in and then shopping to spend my hard earnt money on xmas pressies

Canter half pass.. Wooo get you, all sounding very smart!!
Tho one slightly worrying thing.. is a lack of the word 'eventing'?? ok ok, it's the off season now.. but are you becoming a proper dressage queen?

Oh wow Jacko, lucky you to be apprenticed to Gareth!

Bad luck re. the talent spotting.
I was at the Byrds one with a client. I found the way they gave the marks very puzzling in a lot of cases. The winners were very well deserving and no sour grapes from us as my rider did her best but wasn't amongst the best.......yet!

However a girl rode 'our' pony, couldn't get it on the bit nor could she get it into canter but scored the highest rider marks of the group. She sat in a pretty position but was obviously totally ineffective

Anyway, glad to hear that Tia is coming on well. Good Luck at Solihull.

ohhhhh get you all posh!!!!!! you lucky thing, sounds like you are having such a great time.

i agree with the talent spotting business - i did the BYRDs talent spotting this year and the girl who won my section was no where near the best however she knew the judges and was trained by one of them..........slightly unfair. The marking is odd, i got a 9.5 for my ability and lots of 9s and 8s, but i still didnt get through, so the other girl mustve got huge marks.............

For only being there a short time, you did really well coming 3rd I think! against horses that are obviously far more advanced than yours!

Enjoy your layin today
