Just wondering who uses a poll guard and leather headcollar when travelling. I'll be completely honest and say I usually never use a leather headcollar on Castle when he's travelling, but I do use one sometimes

When we went to collect Ali we used a leather headcollar, and I definitely think I will use one all the time when travelling now. I don't use a poll guard on Castle or Ali.

I always use a leather headcollar when travelling, but have never owned or used a poll guard. If I had a lorry without much head clearance I probably would, but haven't ever felt the need.

Is that not what the baling twine is for? I removed approx 1/2 the twine before I attached it. The Aerborn headcollar will also break free at the throat latch connector (due to cheap "monkey metal", not by design). Any weaker and the toad will break free for his own amusement.

I use bailers twine, but there's still no guarantee that it'll snap under pressue. I have heard of some nasty experiences with bailers twine...

i have never used a poll guard don't feel the need would do if there wasn't much clearence for the horse. never used a leather head collar can't afford one at the moment but been thinking about getting one. bailor twin has always broken if any of my horses have paniced. also my friends horses head collar broke and its the same one i use now so not too worried as it isn't very strong!

We use a leather head collar randomly ie if it is that horses show head collar or we just chose one for it to were.We dont particularly put leather head collars on.

My dads 18HH hunterwears a poll gaurd as he always cuts his head. He has a whole assortment for different length jouneys!

Mine travels in a leather headcollar, when she was a baby (about 4years old) we travelled her in a poll guard but don't bother anymore.

I always travel in leather headcollars, but don't use a poll guard. I've only ever used a pollguard on one horse and that was because he was 18.2hh (yes, it's not a typo) and I was travelling him in a pony trailer

It was a very long time ago though, he travelled without a partition and had his head in one corner and his bum rammed up against the ramp in the other corner and his tail hanging out the back of the ramp

He loved it though and travelled fine

I use poll guard but prefer to use those quick release tie things you can buy from ride-away. Id rather a broken tie than a broken leather headcollar (both of which are preferable to a broken hoss i might add!)
