I guess this should really be in the Soapbox, but as the original post was in the Lounge I thought I ought to place it here.

Okay so have just heard back from our lawyer; regarding the poor girl who is accused of starving the horse to death. He is taking action against this woman and is making a claim on behalf of the girl for the amount of $10,000 based on slander and damage to the girls reputation.

My god, I doubt this woman will ever have seen this coming!! Serves her damn well right. No-one should treat anyone like this.

She's lucky to have you Tia

That's wonderful news, after reading you post earlier I really didn't know what to say in the reply as I was totally amazed anyone would even try pulling something like that.

Great! I am seething with rage on this poor girl's behalf. I do hope that it all goes her way, and she does not have to suffer any repercussions at all. And the nasty woman gets all she deserves.

That's kind of you to say, but I would wager that the vast majority of us on here would do exactly the same as me.

I just hope that this woman learns a lesson from this.

Didn't comment earlier as really have no advice to offer. Just want to let you know that I will keep everything crossed for the young girl. Hope the evil cow gets whats coming to her.

Well I have been doing a wee bitty of investigating today (see I don't spend my whole time on here LOL!!) and have found out even more incriminating evidence which will hold up against this nasty woman
grin.gif
. Everyone I have contacted has said that without question if Affidavits or witnesses are required then they will ALL come forward to clear this girls name. Yaaaaaay!!!

Me too. It's really not in my nature to be an outright nasty piece of work, only under extreme provocation.....however you all know that I am a hay producer right? Hence I know an awful lot of other hay producers and merchants very well indeed.......SO I have been a teensy bit underhand and as this is now public knowledge I have stepped in to mention the troubles with dealing with this woman. I have not mentioned the girl in any way, shape or form to these business people - I don't want this to turn into a "no smoke without fire" situation so I have kept it purely business talk.

I can't see her being able to purchase much hay in this area for much longer - word spreads quickly around here. I think she may be looking at having to have hay hauled in from much further afield which will cost her a lot of hassle finding someone willing to do it....and will also seriously affect her wallet.

Was that really mean of me?

Thats fantastic. It seems to me as if the "lady" was trying to get free labour as well. Shes probably done it before and got away with it. Put the frighteners on a young girl and get them to work for nothing. Good for you Tia.

(ps. please can you look at my post in vets as I would really value your advice if you can help)

God know, nothing nasty at all. I am so glad that your lawyer is sueing her for slander, that is fantastic. The poor girl must be terrified but hopefully she feels more reassured having you looking after her. Is the girl staying with you? Hope she is well away from this woman and is not in a position that she can be easily be 'got at'

QR -

Thank you everyone. You're all right - this woman is a real piece of work. If you ever met this girl you would want to take her home with you - she is the sweetest, kindest and most gentle creature and certainly has deserved none of this.

Well the poop will certainly hit the fan next week......so watch this space!

Now if this were me.... I would have her served at 5pm tonight, so she would have to sweat till monday before getting any legal help herself..... but I am evil

Well the lawyer is very much on the case so I expect he will deal with this very promptly! He has just about a couple of hours to get this letter drawn up and have a courier collect it from him if he is to send it out today.......he is maddened by the dragging the girl out of bed at midnight....so I believe he will do everything in his power to get this moving very very quickly.

He's a pretty hotshot criminal lawyer and likes to get the bit between his teeth.....I don't imagine he deals with many exciting cases around here LOL!! However he tends to spend most of his time in TO. She was very worried about the cost which we had initially said we would cover, however the lawyer has said that he is going for all of her costs aswell, so if it all goes well for her then she should be fully recompensed.

Only just read this thread and the one below, how utterly ridiculous!
it sounds to me as if a all times the girl kept the owner informed and was working under her direction, she must be potty thinking she can blame her for anything when a vet was involved!
The vet visits will be recorded in her own diary and if anyone is to blame the vet sounds liable for not contacting the owner direct and warning of the situation.

Give the girl a hug from me and tell her to stop worrying, the woman's clearly mad...

Aw thank you HH. I will be giving her lots of hugs - she should be here in half an hour poor little love.

Honestly this girl would never ever do anything without direction, she always asks about anything which she is unclear or unfamiliar with. She honestly isn't the sort to just blunder along obliviously.

Hats off to you and your lawyer!!!!

I really hope she's successful and this puts an end to this vindictive woman's insults and bullying.

Tia

I am so glad that this poor girl has someone like you in her life to help her. Hopefully this will go some way to making up for the duff cards she has been dealt so far.

As for the other women - well - when you first posted about her leaving her daugher for so long I made up my mind what I thought about her and my opinion has not improved with this latest episode.

I was wondering about the cost and I didn't like to ask. This is good news.

Thats really good news, read earlier post and was so angry. I've an 18 year old daughter myself so really felt for the girl. As others have said she is so lucky to have you Tia. Another thing, you mention that this woman had a 12 year old daughter that she left this 18 year old to look after - in my opinion that puts her parenting ability in doubt as well as her care of the horses. No disrespect to the girl you are helping but care of a 12 year old is a lot of a responsibility for one who is not a lot older herself!

Have read other post just wanted to say good luck to you and the girl. You have at least restored her faith in horsey people.
It makes you wonder if she's that abusive to the girl how does she treat her own.
As I said good luck and well done for standing up for her (not meant in a patronising /condesending way!)Really think its great what you are doing for the girl.

I missed your earlier post, so went and had a look, and after my initial horror, I did wonder if there were grounds for some sort of counter claim - particularly in relation to the obvious abuse this poor girl suffered at the hands of her 'employers'.

I'm so glad she has your support and backing on this. Goodness knows what would have happened to her had she not. Young vunerable teenagers at the hands of unscrupulous people like these appear to be, are so easy to take advantage of.

Well done you for taking her under your wing and supporting her.
