So now my pelvic surgery is delayed for another 12-18 months due to Covid, I decided I cannot bear to have Jacob 'retired' for that long and so have moved him to a full livery yard, in the hopes that not having to do so much chores wise will free me up pain wise.
He of course came in from the field in the morning ready for his 8am farrier appointment to put shoes back on hairy, muddy... and with a very fat leg - this usually means a lympatic response to some sort of invisible cut. Cue a Saturday vet visit, antibi's and anti inflammatories. Why couldn't he have come in like that when the vet was out for his vaccs on Thursday, or not at all?!
Rest of the day went mostly without hitch. I trimmed him up and gave him a bit of a scrub and off we went, he settled at the new yard perfectly and I tucked him in. He also doesn't look too bad for being turned out on a hill doing nothing for two months, bit banana shaped but it won't take too much work to get him back to how he was before I hope. I can't wait to have my horse back and just to crack on, the hacking here is amazing!!
a (huge, sorry!) photo before we left:
