I'm in the process of trying to sell a horse, I am being as honest as possible when people call up about him, but from what I can gather me being honest seems to be putting people off..

Does anyone have any advice and this horse has to go soon.

Ps.. he is up for loan/sale or swap.. but still having no luck

he is 15'3 8yrs, blue roan, middleweight, breed unknown, he is quite green as was broken as a 5yr old and done not a lot since, he is very nervous in the school ( we recon hes had a good beating in it) however out on a hack he is a saint. he has done a couple of prelim dressage and was placed and can jump although rather green at this. His only fault is that he has gotten into the habit of bolting in the school. worst he has done was 4 circuts then come back. however when in consistant work this seems to disapear. he really is lovely chap and deserves the one to one attention that he needs to be brought on. could make an excellent allrounder if the work is put in.

It sounds silly but it might be that you are being too negative about the horse <don't jump on me yet HHOers!>
Obviously it is important to be honest but you give the impression that you don't like him most people will be put off at the telephone stage and they don't get the chance to judge him on his own merit (by trying him out)
I guess what I'm trying to say is make sure you stress his good bits as well as highlighting the bad

Incidentally, what is he (age, height, breed etc) and what are his bad bits?

Where are you? Any pics? I *might* be looking for something to loan wvtb. It has to hack alone and in company non competative sponsered rides etc, and fab with traffic. Schooling I can deal with. Pm if you like

I think he sounds lovely, and a classic project as he clearly is a good boy underneath it all (out hacking etc) but has a quirky streak because of his past. It has been mentioned alot on here that project horses aren't selling that well, but if you are honest about him, stress his good points and ask for a sensible price I'm sure you will find him a good home.

If he's really good to hack out then I would really empathise this point - after problems hacking with my previous horse I went looking for something that was good and it got to the point where I didn't care if it couldn't do much else! People do want different things from their horses so there will be someone out there.
How much are you asking for him?

Yes, it happens all the time. This is the quickest way if you don't happen to mind where he goes. You enter him in your horse sales, take him to market and take what is offered.

Not ideal by any means, but not everyone is a meat man or whatever.

I'm open to offers on him, I have no specific price in mind ( does that sound wrong? ) I just want him to go to a good home.

feel free to pm me for his advert

It appears I'm not the only one with this problem then. I'm trying to sell a 2 year old hopefully potential eventer. She's been advertised all over the place since last November and I've only had one phone call (but despite sounding interested, they didn't even come to see her). It's not desperate that she goes at the moment but it will be in a couple of years!
