so i have a 10 year old mare, and yes she is definately 10! and she quids, but im not sure if it is habitual quidding? could some one out there help me ? so she will eat short grass and hard feed nd btw she was not in good shape when i bought her and she wont eat hayledge or hay no matter how good, dry, or wet it is and she wont eat long grass eaither she does however eat more long grass than hay/ledge she chews it rolls it up and spits it out and ive had her teeth rasped and filled down by my vet and ED and she still wont eat hayledge or hay she will eat 1 out of every 10 or so bites she takes of hay but 5 or 6 out of every 10 bites of long grass and she will not quid short grass at all and she doesnt quid hard feed either! im so confused i read something somewhere that they can have pocket in there cheeks the hold the food and then they wont swollow it and will open there mouths to get rid of it but to be honest i really have no idea and idk what im going to do in the winter can someonehelp!? thanks in advance

Did you tell the vet or EDT that your mare was quidding? What you describe is not something I would be at all comfortable with in any horse of mine. I'd get a professional back an explain the behaviour if it was mine. Something must be causing this and I'm pretty sure it is a physical problem

Who is the EDT? Are they qualified or just a cowboy who has decided to buy a rasp? (know a few of them about!) What area are you in? If you are near co.down area there is a edt/vet Carolyn Perkins, who is the only 100% properly qualified edt on the island.
