I have a very useful hunter chaser racehorse who has become quirky when starting, basically plants himself then starts – he runs a blinder each time and battles to the finish and bounces around for days later on a high! so its not as if he doesnt enjoy it, if he didn't I would stop him in a heartbeat. I am intriged to find out if anyone knows of someone who is like a 'whisper' who might have an answer to why he does this– I usually have show horses so this is all new to me – he is tried as a god at home and is very very well bred (by the Queen!!) I wont put blinkers on him because he hates them– but if anyone knows someone who might help it would be great – please by all means PM me – I am away for a week but will respond

When my horse was seriously ill, I had a horse whisperer who talked to him on the phone from Scotland!! Sounds totally nuts, but I really got a lot out of it, and everything she said made perfect sense. If you want to google for her, her name's Ann Dee. Re the starting prob - my horse does the same thing starting xc. I think he gets so excited that he literally can't move! Like yours, once he gets going, he has a blast, but the anticipation is too much for him.
