Evening all. Considering purchasing one of these but they're pretty pricey! Anyone got one? Pm me if you're interested in selling. What are people's experiences - worth the money?

Cheaper solution...my mare took to kicking the door when she thought I ought to be paying her attention and she could see me. (if I'm out of sight she doesn't do it). I filled a sports cap water bottle and squooshed at her when she kicked - she doesn't do it now..and it only took a couple of days and she got the message.

We used to have several on the yard - they are of fairly limited value I'm afraid. If you have a horse who is a bit half hearted about kicking then this might put him off for a while. But if they are really determined all it teaches them to do is either kick the walls / door frame or to kick with the leg extended forward and the body back behind the door. We even had one who would turn sideways and cow kick at the door to keep away from it. Plus it will soak any unwary groom putting feed in first thing....

Having had some pretty determined kickers over the years I prefer to pad the door with rubber, straw bags or carpet (whatever is to hand at the time). Saves the structure, their feet and reduces noise. If they can't make a noise doing it they'll stop.

You make your own for under £100 quite easily.
The system is essentially a car screen wash nozzle and bottle with a vibration sensor to trigger it (and a battery).

If you're implying I'm from Quit Kick then (a) you're mistaken and (b) no wonder people like me rarely post on here! Was asking for advice and clearly mentioned that they're pricey and I wanted to buy second hand. And I get met with such a hostile response? Charming.

I have two and they work VERY well and kicking the door has reduce by 98% and I hardly turn them on now

Some are like that on here, my feedback is promising as nothing else worked on my horse but this worked very quickly and she respects it well. yes i could have conjured up a cheep option, but you get what you pay for..

I highly recommend them

I love mine, I only have to use it once a year (after the inital squirt) when competing as mine turns into a very self important dont you know who I am horse and wants everyone to worship him when they set foot on the yard, and also decided when he shoud be fed! ;)
Have you guessed he has character, it works for him, but as every horse is different it might not work for others. Well worth the money as I have no talent/time or energy to build one myself.

Au contraire S_V. Many people 'like you' (very little posting history, start a thread asking about QKs, never post again) post on here: Segod, Lizxx63, TulipBlaze, Chinsky... etc

That is exactly what I noticed.

Unless we're actually talking about a bunch of people after second hand water pistols for some more interesting purpose?!? I'm not sure it is healthy to speculate about that. Fun though :-)

They certainly work and are worth the money in my opinion. I have a mare with trauma ringbone from door banging. The Quit Kick stopped her.

It worked like a charm on my friend's terrible door banger. Enabled him to lose weight as well as people stopped giving him hay to shut him up which was only reinforcing the habit. And no, I am not from the company either.
