ARGHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

I think i just need to really vent as much as I can. Everything seems to be going wrong right now!!!!

My OH was in a car crash on Saturday, car looks like a write off. More money coming out, he was in hospital all day and I wasn't allowed to see him because I was at work and couldn't get off!! Not happy at all!

So money to fix the car has to come out. Only good thing is that my OH is ok, he's annoyed, but he's walked away and good.

Next thing, can't go and see the horse for a week until new car comes, dropped off tack yesterday, after hacing one last hack out for the week. He was perfect, we went on the gallops and I felt brilliant, he was fit (at last! after months of different injuries) and he was totally with me (if you get me?). Happy end to the day. Dropped the tack off so my friend can keep him fit for the week (we're doing some dressage in autumn so he needs to be kept ticked over - that and he's worse if he isn't worked, perils of an ex racehorse!). That was all good, until I find out he's lost yet another shoe!!! Three in the space of four weeks!!! ARGHHHHHHHHH!!! I don't know what to do with him, he's costing me an arm and a leg in shoes alone, only good side is he's a good doer for a TB, so still outside with no rugs and he's fitness wise ok, but the shoes are costing me so much!!!!

Come home today, puppy disappered for a few minutes, didn't think anything about it as she's done it before when she's hiding her bone, which she had in her mouth. I go upstairs literally three minutes later, she's pulled up part of the carpet going into the bedroom!! Cue me locking her in her crate while i calm down and try to sort it out. Deep breathes, then I go outside into the garden for pup's schedualed toilet time. Somehow magically gets under the gate (she's never done this before!!), after pushing her ball through the gaps and running onto the road.

Cue me pulling my hair out and putting the pup into her crate again just so I can calm down. She's fine now, asleep on my feet, all of day forgotten!

So car is a write off, horse is costing me a fortune, and pup is destroying the house!!!

Breathe deeply, if anyone got through that you can have whatever you like! :S

So I'm NOT alone!!!!!!:o

Chin up.....things get better eventually.....I hope!!!!x.

:( I do hope!!

It's not fun at the moment, the horse hasn't been sound for a long time, in the space of a few months I only rode a handful of times, and he's finally at the stage where I can ride and get him fit ready for winter.

One day everything will be good I hope ...

Ok, maybe a little bit of hope for you. My TB used to lose shoes for fun until I started him on Gold Label biotin. Try a supplement with Biotin in as while ever he was on it, the cracks stayed away and shoes stayed tight. If I ran out or stopped it, within six weeks his shoes would begin coming loose. I know it is supposed to be fed with methionin (or something like that) and I tried other brands over the next eleven years he was shod, but only Gold Label worked for my TB.
Now my boy has been barefoot for over five years (he used to go lame if he lost a shoe in the field, I went against farrier and vets advice). I was able to stop the bute (for navicular) and biotin within the first year but now he has much stronger, harder hooves and they never crack or split.
Sorry you had a crap day, have a nice soak in a warm bath and an early night. Tomorrow is another day:)

How rubbish!! :(

Glad your OH is ok. My dad always says... ' have you got a head, two arms and two legs'.... if so, every other problem can be easily tackled :)

If my horse had lost three shoes in four weeks and I'd either look at the quality of farrier or look at maintaining my horses hooves. My farrier doesn't charge if he needs to come out and stick another shoe on as long as it is under five weeks since they were last done.

Thanks for the advice!! i'll look into that definatly and give it a go! I have been using keratix at the moment, but still no luck. He came to me with horrendous feet, but with the farrier (can't thank him enough) there already looking better. Just wish that he'd keep them on so i'm not shelling out all that money all the blooming time. :(

Thats the thing I kept saying to OH, cars can be fixed, you not as easily.

The farrier I'll give it to him, he's done wonders with my boy's feet, its definatly not him. TB came to me with feet that were cracked, overgrown andn ot touched for up to four years. But there coming better. I know its his hooves, but I mean last time, he had a full set on for just over six weeks and not a problem.

Huge **Hugs**. I felt like you this morning - my car failed it's MOT yesterday and needs £465 woth of work doing which was taking place today, my sister was taking me to the yard to drop some hay over the field and then onto work as school was only open today for me to do classroom displays but when I get to the yard my horse had a puncture wound in her knee joint. This horse has just recovered from a hock injury and took a year to nurse back to health with box rest, tiny paddocks and 2 x a week physio. I just burst into tears...it's also that time of the month I'm very emotional this week! Hope you start having some good times soon!

Our horses, in this weather, are shod every 5-6 weeks going up to 7-8 weeks in the winter. So maybe your horsey is doing ok ;)

I hate rubbish days. Stick a Disney film on and grab a glass of wine. I promise you will feel better :)

Aw (((hugs))). If it makes you feel any better our dog, after trying the carpet and then the lino in the kitchen, decided it was far more fun to bury his bone in the kitchen wall! TWICE!!!! Came home and he had dug out huge holes. As long as your pup doesn't do that you are doing well!

Aww just keep focusing on the amazing ride you had... :)

I was just making myself a coffee (espresso) and as I was thinking ooh I hope I have enough pods to get me through the month -skint at mo seeing as car just cost a grand to go through mot- I managed to spill the entire cup. Something I,ve never done. That was enough to send me over the edge. :(

Your not the only one.

In the last few weeks my mare escaped from stable causing her laminitis to get acute hobbling still slight rotation and soles dropped . last weekend got vet out again quidding couldn't move her jaw side to side for any reason. Then she got another recurrent ulcer .

paid £ 900 one vet bill now its up to 500 just paid that vet booked out again for tomorrow next wed the wed after and after that .

Have to ask why are the shoes coming off is it your farriers doing ???
Only ask cos i had one farrier whose shoes came off
why not have him barefoot behind to cut cost down ?
