1 year ago today my Arab mare Aura died, she will never be forgotten. None horsey people think it was the same as losing any other pet, wrong it hurts when they go too dont get me wrong. Horses are a passion, I waited 35 years before I could afford her, I had her for 13 years, she took a part of my heart with her.

So Sorry to hear that hun xx
Just out of interest what was your mares breeding? as my mare is out of Silver Auriole (sp) and I have a feeling her grandmother was Silver Aura x

I hope you dont mind me posting again but I have been thinking of you and I wanted to share this with you as I think I can go some way to understand how you must be feeling.

Although I still have my precious girl I know when the time comes to say goodbye it will hit me so very very hard and I dont know how I will carry on without her, she is my life and in times gone past been my only reason for living :(

I found this poem and its been posted on here before but I find some comfort from it and I sincerely hope that you do too......

My time's come my dear
As it comes for us all
Hold me close one last time
As I lay in my stall

I feel you shudder,
But there's no need to cry
I'll tell you the secret of why horses die

I’ll go to a pasture that's
far away and above,
But know that we're forever
bound by our love

I'll make hoofprints to heaven
So you'll find your way,
Tread the path smooth to
keep you from wandering astray

I'll carry your guardian angel nearby,
With my wings wipe the tears from
your soul when you cry,

If you're ever alone,
Or your life's hard to lead,
Close your eyes and remember
Me, your eternal steed,

Who awaits, at the gates
to carry you home
So the last journey you make
Is not made alone

On my golden hooves we'll gallop,
And on silver wings fly,
Yes, this is the secret
Of why horses die.

Thank you for your sympathy.
Bright Aura is out of Silver Aura by Bright Crown. Born in 1993, I had her as a three year old, bought from Gadebrook Stud. Our girls are from the same line.

Thank you so much that is beautiful, even though it made me and my friend cry.
I know she will always be with me.

She Is still with you as that beautiful poem tells us, I am another one in tears as we lost Leonie after 35 years in November and reading the poem set me off yet again, take care xx

So sorry to hear this, RIP Bright Aura.

My mare Crystal Fire came from Gadebrook as well. x

Was she decended from Crystal Silver born 1992 Grey?.

If it is of any interest to both of you who have Crabbet Arabs, although you may already have it, I have traced Aura's pedigree back to 1878 to the original stock bought into the country by Lady Anne & Wilfred Blunt from the desert.

I would be happy to share it with you.

I think the Crabbit line is wonderful, totally different to the fine small boned Polish line, and such lovely temperements. My Aura always surprised everyone how calm she was, when I was looking for new livery and they found out I had an Arab some would say oh no not a nutty Arab, she always proved them wrong and they fell in love with her.

Ah I see I had a feeling they would be. The other side of Fazzie's breeding (her reg name is Nile Silver Farette) is Silver Fari (our stallion) who was out of Silver Sheen x Fair II.
Do you have any other arabs?
We lost our stallion on 07.07.07 Silver Fari, he was truly my horse of a lifetime he died aged 31. He always looked after me , dad would show him in hand, he would completely show off then when he came out of the ring (usually with the red ribbons) dad could hand him to me and he would gently prance next to me as I parade him around. It does get easier hun but it takes time and sometimes it just hits you :( Just remember she is still with you xx hugs xx

I would love to see the predigree i am really interested in the crabbet lines. I really believe they produce fantastic horses. Everyone says the same about my girl being an arab completely mad etc but she isnt at all I trust her and we work together. If I want her to be a bit 'up' she will be but then drop the reins and she quietly continues. I wish I had bred from her but feel she is too old now and wouldnt want to put her through it.

That is my greatest regret that I did not breed from her, it is a shame that your girl is to old, could you possibly use a surrogate and implant, I would have done, but never got the chance.
My Aura was exactly the same, could get her to prance or plod. I tried to show her in hand early days, she yawned and went to sleep, judge said she was too quiet. She was next to the wound up nutcases in the ring with us. Oh well, she suited me so I did not care what they said.

I would be happy to share the pedigree with you it is ten pages of A4 though, how would I get it to you?

Have you seen the book "Tha Crabbet Arabian Stud" (It's history & Influence) by Rosamay Archer, Colin Pearson and Cecil Covey it tells the whole story and has pictures of the original stock, I ordered it from Waterstones years ago, it was about £18 but worth every penny, there are pictures of Bright Crown who was the stallion who contributed to the calmness of the line.

Well Fazzie has got to be 17 ish this year (you would think she was 6 mind!!)so do think it's a bit old, what do you think? We also have an El Saleem daughter out of Faery Rose, she is a year or so older and bred before and I am playing with the idea of breeding from her next year as we only have these two girls now and when Fari died it was a great comfort having Fazzie his daughter. I could pm you with my address and send you some money for photocoping and postage? Would that be ok?
ETA - I have tried showing fazzie in the past and she kept falling a sleep as well!!! Fari would chill/sleep in the line up then come alive in the trot up, he had that fantastic long sweeping trot :)

Dont worry about the postage and I have many copies as you can imagine. It would please me to help you to follow your girls pedigree, it gave me, and still does much pleasure and comfort to look back.
Do you know, my Dad said they were so well bred that if they could talk they would not speak to us.
Not sure what pm is though, will it be confidential enough.
I would love to correspond to keep in touch with the Arab lovers. I am in Shrewsbury are you very far away?
