R.I.P Charlie

A sensible, and sensitive, thing to do for a troubled horse. Every decent owner will have to do this at some time if they have horses for any length of time.

He wouldn't have known a thing about it but he is now pain free. I suspect he was a very unhappy horse and you have released him from that. Run free Charlie now you are in a happier place. Hugs OP xx

sorry you had to let him go but he was not a happy boy and who knows what pain he had.....a very difficult decision but sounds like the right one.....dont beat yourself up, he is happy now.....HUGS!!!!

I think you've done brilliant handling this situation some people would have passed Charlie on. You did everything you could & you was there until the end. He's at peace now & it means you have closure on things even though it's probably been one of the hardest decision you've had to make. Not alot of people would have had the bottle to put a horse like Charlie down let alone be there until the end. Take care lots of hugs xx

Well done, you made the right decision for your horse, yourself and your daughter, put it all behind you and move on now. Best wishes x

You made the hardest decision rather than passing his problems on to another. I admire you for having the courage to do what is undoubtedly the right thing. Now look after yourself and your precious little girl xxx
RIP Charlie xxx

Hugs.
I'm sure where ever he is grazing in the field in the sky he is thankful you did right by him and didn't pass him on to a cycle of unhappiness.

Xxx

Sorry for your loss Op, I also put down an old friend this morning. She had a problem which was getting worse and making her uncomfortable but at the rate it was progressing her standard of life was going to go down hill. She was bright and happy and was looking into the distance when the vet injected her, she never flinched and it was all over while the weather was mild and she was happy. She would've been 26 next march and had been retired for the last 3 years. It was hard making the decision, but I'm glad I did it while she was happy rather than wait until she was really unhappy and then be sorry I hadn't done it sooner.

RIP Charlie. SLH, I think you are incredibly brave to make this decision and its obvious this is not a decision you have taken lightly. I have much admiration for you, not every horse can be cured of their problems and sadly this is something we probably all have difficulty in accepting sometimes. He sounded very troubled and you have ensured he does not end up being past on and mistreated because of his extreme behaviour. Sleep easy tonight knowing that you have made the right decision. Sending lots of positive vibes to you and your daughter. x
