R.I.P horses in the GN

Its very sad, i really feel for the stable staff and connections involved.

Does anyone know what happened? Apparently wierd al isnt out of the woods yet :(

Synchronised jumped the fence fine, pecked heavily on landing (commentator said he got caught out by the drop) but seemed fine.

According to Pete was brought down by another horse, but got up and galloped off.

Weird Al was brought down in a pile up of three, hopefully as reports say he's still being treated then he has a chance.

My heart goes out to the two owners, especially those of According to Pete as they were so very nervous before the race.

Synchronised looked so very well when he spooked at the tape before the race, poor little man.

RIP boys, and keep fighting Weird Al xx

Such a shame for Synchronised, he was a very talented horse. and also According to Pete RIP. Can't help but think of his owners doing their village paper round tomorrow, very sad day.

I watch and have a bet on the race but its still terribly sad :(

Not sure what the answer is to be honest - I think by 'softening' the fences it would just encourage a faster pace so not sure it would help and awful lot.

Far too many runners in the race though - we would see a lot less pile ups with less in it!

Synchronised injured himself loose a few fences on from Beachers. He looked like he jumped it, twisted and landed badly. No one was to blame for that, just rotten awful luck.
According to Pete - that just makes me weep. What a stunning little horse, so so unlucky that he was brought down, but to suffer that fate because of it, is simply tragic. His owners and connections are in my thoughts. I hope that they can remember him with a few smiles jumping happily and looking like a champ.

Bless them all.

He was down and up so quick I didn't even see him fall!

Yup, he looked a bit dazed, but got his bearings and was off

Very sad :(

So sad as I had thought at the end of the race that all had got up and were fine so to hear that afterwards was so sad. I though Sychronised had got up and ran on as I saw him in the background following and jumping so that's such a shame that he fell later but at least there is nothing anyone could have done. Was According to Pete onit of those brought down at Beechers? Again they all seemed to get up there although I did think one looked a bit 'odd' on a hind as it ran - was that him.

I just feel so sad for the owners and the lads and lasses who looked after them. Even worse almost for Sychronised as the spotlight was on him so much, especially after he chucked AP off before the race.

So so sad and it would have been so nice if the GN had finished without tragedy as I thought the finish was fantastic - don't think I've ever seen one as close or one where the horses left at the end looked as full of running.

My thoughts exactly, after Claire Balding being with them and saying "oh you could be in the papers tomorrow or they could be reading about you" or something along those lines....... reading about them for the wrong reasons :(
