Sadly lost Junior at 12.40 pm today. His leg was fractured too badly to mend, the vet did a very thorough check, and lots of xrays. I could see on the screen the damage, and it wasnt fair to leave him suffering any longer. Junior has now gone off to rainbow bridge. Bless you big man

But if the damage was that bad, then you've done the right thing and he wont be in pain any more. You did all you could. I hope you're ok.

Will be thinking of you.

Rest in Peace Junior.

You gave him a chance and then did what was best for him. Unfortunately that leaves you to deal with the grief, so I'm sending loads of hugs and letting you know I'm thinking of you.

RIP Junior

xx

lots of cracks on bones on his knee and above. Vet said she hadnt seen such a bad fracture for a long time. No wonder there was so much swelling. I feel bad for making him suffer for four days now. I have his full brother too, they were good mates, Joe will miss him just as much as me.

If you had have had him put to sleep straight away, you probably would have always wondered "what if i'd tried?" Well, now you know you did and that nothing more could be done. He was on pain killers wasn't he? So he wont have suffered. They're incredibly brave animals. I kept Murph going for a lot longer than 4 days, and i dont regret it. I just regret that we lost the fight. You made a very brave decision for your boy, and he'll know that now.

Read your posts the other day - am so sorry to hear that nothing more could be done - sounds like his injuries were just way too bad. Be proud of yourself for doing the right thing by your boy, as heart breaking as it must have been.

My thoughts are with you.

RIP Junior, run free once more xx

Just to say how sorry I am, but at least you know it was the right thing to do following the investigations.

Having lost a mare to a broken leg, it is heartbreaking but time does heal things.

Sending you a hug.

So sorry that you had to make the decision. Do not feel bad, you did not make him suffer you gave him a chance, and he was on painkillers so I am sure he was comfortable. Hugs to you and RIP Junior.
