I have a miniature lop house bunny. He's around 6 months old. Over the last few days he hasn't really been eating much. He's usually one to scoff the whole bowl of pellets/veg as soon as it hits the floor. He is still eating hay and pooing but his poos are smaller. He is a little quieter than normal and he is lying about a lot but I put it down to it being warm. Any ideas anyone?

Ended up taking him to out of hours vet as he started with the runs :( he had antibiotics, pain killers and a few other bits and I've got to hand feed him every 2 hours from a syringe :(
He now hasn't pood since before 1am. Waiting for the vet to call me back

She didn't really say :( she said it could have possibly been caused by a change in diet but he hasn't really had anything different lately. He had very high blood sugar but she couldn't feel an obstruction anywhere. He's now drinking of his own accord and nibbling his hay a little. He seems much more himself but still no poo. Phonesld vet and she said not to worry until tonight as he passed quite a large stool when he was being treated at the vets. Really hope he's going to be ok :(

Have they given you any powdered type food that you add water to and syringe? If not you could try grinding some pellets up watering down and syringing. Nibbling hay is a good sign. Does he normally have grass? If so you could offer some of that or if you can get some some hawthorn

Rabbits are very sensitive and it could be the heat, something that has frightened them or anything, mine do this every now and then and it is worrying.

Yeah he's been having that every 2 hours through a syringe since about 1am. He's quite happy to take that. He doesn't get any grass normally, he's just a house bunny. Vet advised not to feed him any veg or anything until he has passed normal looking poos. So worried about him :(

No no veg and not grass if he doesnt normally have it. A little hawthorn will be ok as long as there are no chemicals on it

Has your bun had his teeth checked? Any dental spurs can stop a rabbit eating and also caused pain?

Vet checked them last night and said they were fine. He is a very healthy bunny other than last nights events. Will see if I can source some Hawthorne to give him then. Thank you for your suggestions!

Oh fingers crossed its just the heat than. My neighbour putting a fence up upset one of mine enough to stop eating a few weeks ago - they are hard work
