Hi all, I have a rabbit who is a mini lop and would usually drink around 500 mils a day give or take, and this was on a diet of fresh dry hay and pellets with some veg in the morning. However now she is on mainly grass and pellets in the morning, but is drinking little to no water. I have gave her bottles and bowls but she isn’t seeming to drink, looking too me like she’s getting around 100ml a day. Any ideas?

There will be a lot more water in the grass than the hay, I find the horses drink less when they go onto summer grass fields.

Is she seeming well otherwise?

That’s what I was thinking but she is acting a little differently too but I don’t know if it’s just me over reacting. She seems to be sleeping a lot more and not eating as many of her pellets either

How much grass is she getting?
I know after my Alfred had surgery he could only eat veggies, and didn't drink any water because he was getting enough from the veg.

To be honest if I was you I would ring the vet, rabbits are so good at hiding problems and you will know her better than anyone - if you think something's not quite right you might well be correct. You may not be able to take her in for a checkup but the vet should at least be able to talk it through with you. Rabbits turn into emergencies so quickly it may even be that they will let you hand her over in the carpark for them to have a look.

Did her behaviour change around the time you changed her onto grass? If yes maybe she's just stuffing herself with delicious grass then sleeping it off! But I would ring the vet to talk it through with them.
