Rabbits and moss advice

Hi,
I have the opportunity to rent some land that has not been grazed for around 8 years. The Rabbits have made themselves at home around the trees. What's the best way to evict them? My priority to make it safe for my horses is to deal with rabbit population and to pull the ragwort and overgrown brambles etc. Most other things will have to be work in progress... Any ideas how to deal with the moss?
All advice and suggestions welcome.

For the rabbits I would have a word with other local landowners. They will know someone who will shoot or otherwise dispatch the rabbits. Around us they do it for free, not sure whether they sell the rabbits or just enjoy it as a sport.

Pull out anything poisonous and then get someone to top the field. You can then see whats really going on.

The moss is probably due to weeds etc and there will be very little grass. Ask your local agriculural merchant about a soil test. They dont cost much, it could be the soil is very acidic.

I did reclaim a piece of land like this once. To be honest the only way to get decent grazing is probably to reseed it.
 
Thanks for this..... What's the best way to fill in the burrows and warrens? Would rubble or bricks be best?

Hi, I know rabbits are a pain in the a**e, but I dont think broken glass is the best way to deal with them!

As already mentioned in other replies the best way would be to clear as many as possible by shooting, as anyone who is a good shot will kill a rabbit cleanly and quickly.

Then fill your holes with rubble, bricks and anything heavy to prevent further burrowing.

Sadly you will find rabbits will return for a while , but keep at it and you will get on top of it in the end.
