I'm currently reading a life after racing . It's a brilliant book. I've rehomed over 60 ex racehorses, saved from slaughter most of them . I'm not a charity I don't do it for money I do it as I think they are fabulous horses to work with. In the book I'm reading it mentions rehoming centres. I'm interested in how the work . Do you pay a fee for a horse etc I hadn't heard much about them before and I'm curious

I have no experience of race horse rehoming centres, but the rehoming centres that belong to charities, Blue Cross, WHW, Redwings etc. do offer rescued ponies and horses for adoption, they do inspect prospective homes and make inspections after adoption. They do companion adoptions of animals you can not be ridden, as well as horses/ponies who can be ridden.

The rehoming fee varies across the charities, they expect the adopter to insure animal, pay any future vet fees, farrier etc.

Our yard manager just brought a beautiful buy up from the thoroughbred renaming centre and he is a dream , another girl at the yard was so impressed she went down and chose a stunning grey who is coming at the end of the month !
Both where delighted at the place and staff !
