Race horse to riding horse showing...

I say no - all the RoR classes I've done (the Hickstead qualifiers) need the horse to have run in an official race. When I was looking at a pointer to buy for these classes we were going to have to run him in a bumper so he was eligible.

I think you can do the TARRA (?) classes without, but not the RoR ones, nor the RoR BE/BS /BD stuff.

Ditto the above, not eligible for affiliated RoR classes (ie, only those that qualifiy for hickstead, windsor or hoys)

I cant speak for other clubs or unaff shows, at some of these you might find any tb can enter, even if not race bred/ weatherbys reg!

Might be worth checking out TARRA classes- you can qualify for Equifest and things like that in them. The type of horse doing them tends to be a bit different though.

This wrong, we have a horse at work that ran in 1 point to point, and is qualified for hickstead and the royal highland in ROR. It is affiliated.

Pointers are eligible.

Exactly. From the R2R rules:
6. ELIGIBILITY OF ANIMALS
6.1. This Competition is only for thoroughbred horses (as determined in accordance with
paragraph 6.6) (“Thoroughbred”) that have previously run in a race under the rules of an approved racing authority recognised as such by the British Horseracing Authority (“Recognised Racing Authority”).
6.2. The following animals are not eligible to be exhibited at the Competition:
6.2.1. any stallion or entire;
6.2.2. any horse that has been placed 1st in any previous Racehorse to Riding Horse Show Championship at Horse of the Year Show (“HOYS”);
6.2.3. any horse that has not run in any race (including point to point, national hunt or
on the flat) under the rules of a Recognised Racing Authority;

6.2.4. any horse under 148 cm tall;
6.2.5. any horse under 4 years old.
6.2.6. any horse that is not a Thoroughbred.

the introduction page of this year's schedule for SEIB Racehorse to Riding Horse HOYS Show Horse championship clearly states:-

"The Racehorse to Riding Horse HOYS Show Championship is a series for thoroughbreds that have raced in either Point to Point, Flat or National Hunt Racing."

Same applies for ROR Hickstead qualifiers and performance awards - plus you have to register with RoR for those.
