SO... we have a works Christmas 'do' at Cheltenham races on Saturday. I've been racing before, as have several of our party (17 in all) but there will be quite a few that know nothing about betting. I'd like to do something fun, that will involve everyone, eg. everyone chipping in £5, and picking a few horses just on the names alone, then placing a few bets on these.... I know there is a placepot, but can't remember exactly how it works, or if it would be the best way??

Any ideas to spead the betting to increase our chances of a win (however small!!!) it's just a way to get everyone involved, and hopefully shouting a few horses home! Not looking to make millions, it doesn't actually matter if we end up down on the day, just would be nice for everyone to feel like they had a 'winner'... if you see what I mean....

Will also be running a 'jockey colours' thing, chose your favouite colour, and points for 1st/2nd/3rd etc, winner gets the pot!

Any other ideas??
(Oh and wouldn't turn down any tips either ;):p)

Thanks guys!
