Rachael Blackmore retires

So shocked! But when you have pretty much won all the ones people want to win you may aswell retire in one piece.
 
It’s a shame that after her legacy jump racing has so few women riders and no high profile ones now.

Agree with Clodagh they used to refer to her as a "female jockey" it soon changed to her just being referred to as a jockey.

She had a far greater career than most male jockeys and broke down a lot of barriers

She’s 35, recently married, has won everything there is to win and has not long come back from a serious injury. Perfect time to stop I would say, get out whilst in one piece and enjoy something else.

I was on a course visit with a clerk of the course only last week, and he was talking about how much Hollie Doyle and Rachel Blackmore have done to help ditch the lady jockey term, not least because they're up there with the very best, if not being the best at the job in hand.

Such a shame she's retiring, but fair play given what she's acheived!
 
Saw yesterday that the 'Ladies' team has been scrapped from the Shergar Cup and will be replaced by an 'Asia' team.

I think this is a good reflection on how much jockeys like Rachel and Hollie have done to show they are just as good as the men.
