I know very little about racing but I would love to get an idea of my ex-hurdlers racing career (I know it was short, I am just interested though.)

I wondered if anyone could interpret this data from the racing post website on him. I know he did hurdles not flat but I wondered what sort of races he ran and what all the racing jargon means?!

Here is the link: http://www.racingpost.com/horses/horse_home.sd?horse_id=558008

Thank you very much! :D

According to that he was a chaser not a hurdler :)

PU means he was pulled up... UR means unseated rider...F means fell... 3/12 for example means 3rd out of 12...C4 means (I think) class 4 which is pretty low key...HcCh is handicap chase NvHcCh is novice handicap chase...HntCh is hunter chase...

Ah, chaser. I knew he jumped, that was about it. Thank you very much for all that. I know it was very low key - I believe he was just bred by a very small race yard in Ireland.

GF GS Gd is the going. Good to firm, good to soft, good. His best results were generally on faster ground :)

The horse name under race outcome is the name of the winner and 38L 15L etc is how far behind the winner he was or in the case of the race he won its how far he was ahead of the 2nd place horse :)

A low key racehorse but I bet he is a wonderful horse to own, lucky you and I bet you wouldnt swap him for See The Stars!!!

I did think he had run some point to points. Thank you very much nickslynn, I will take a look at that forum. :)

Of course patsie2 - wouldn't swap him for anything. :D

nickslynn - posted on the JFF website and I have already had two replies with more information on him than ever! It is amazing - thank you very much for pointing me in the direction of this site. :D

I have looked up your horse in the 2007 ptp annual - his last season I would imagine as he was clearly not enjoying racing. Ask if there's anything you would like to know ?

Hi there bonny - thanks very much for your reply.

Interesting to know he acctually pointed last in 2007 - more recent than I thought.

I basically wanted to find out anything I could - is there anyway I could access the 'ptp annual' or not?

When did he last race/point in 2007?

Presumably he didn't go well in this last race?

Is there any gaps in his p2p's that would indicate he was taken off the track?

Where and what courses did he p2p or chase at?

Sorry for all the questions. :D

Thanks,

Laura.

He ran 5 times then although it was 2006, the book comes out for the following season. He was 9 at the time. Form that year was pulled up, refused, 4th, 1st and then pulled up. His win was a 2 horse race. It's hard to find any information on line about pointing but I have all the books so ask away.
He did get 2 squiggles that year meaning he was ungenuine. Looks to me like he just wasn't keen on racing. It says he was jumping badly and out to right and looked totally disinterested. He also wore blinkers.
I'll see what else I can find out - he did win 5 races in his career so not all bad !

The previous years book is a bit more complimentry about him ! Although he only ran once and pulled up. Was hanging and looking disinterested in that race but the book says he had more ability than he was showing. That race was a hunter chase at Chepstow and he was 20 - 1.

2004 ! 3 2nds and 2 wins but also ran out once. Needed fast ground and was winning easy races but that's still good form !

Thank you for all the info bonny - this is great.

Were the 5 races he won including the Point to points? Because as far as I am aware he only won one hunter chase/chase. ??

Is there anywhere I would be able to find pictures?

It sounds just like him - lazy sod - :D he is so laid back he outs the back door but when he wants to run, he can run! :D (Love him to bits tho)

Someone else said he had 'two squiggles'. So this means he was basically disinterested in racing/wasn't showing his true ability?

I would love a picture of him in the blinkers - it would make me chuckle. :D

Thanks so much - where did you get all this info from - is it in a book/annual that can be purchased?

Mackenzie, Selby and Harris - point to point bible ! Try Wetherby's chase for back copies if you like but it's not cheap ...he won 5 points and 1 beginners chase in his career.

If you can find out where he ran in point to points, and then find someone to do with the course you might be able to find out who the photographer was on that day. I managed to get a photo of mine about 6 years after he had finished racing.....

Thanks Rebelzmum for the info. 6 years is quite a long time - about the same as mine so maybe I still have a hope of a photo...

I know there is videos of him on racingpost but not sure how clear or good quality they are.

bonny - I contacted the supposed photographer by email that was meant to be at the course he ran at (cannot remember the name now) with info and everything and never got anything back..so a bit dissapointed.

Where would I be able to find pics of him pointing - or do they not take pics?

Thanks. :)

Found the annual bonny - will this contain all info or is there certain years? The sites I have found it on do not seem to list a year. Or would this be the current one?
