Any one out there seen it? Had to drag pony from field tonight and when we hit the yard, he was dragging his off fore toe along the ground. Vet says he's most likely done the splits playing on the greasy ground and hopefully should be much better by morning. Reassurance (or otherwise) needed?!

Usually caused by a heavy fall, or more likely, a kick to the shoulder. Recovery is usually very slow if the nerves are badly damaged, and it may never be 100% again - sorry. Let's hope it is just a few pulled muscles.

Even if much sounderr in morning keep a very close eye on the shoulder muscles over the next fortnight. If they start to disappear get it looked at sharpish and try and get referred to a physio with muscle stim machines.

Ive had this happen 3 times all with the same accident prone & annoyingly playful TB.

In all cases he made a full recovery within 2 days. It looks horrible when it happens as they really look like they have a broken leg. Twice ive had to get a trailor in to box him to the yard & the final time i had 6 people helping me to get him to the yard.

Good luck i hope it is a simple as mine where.

try getting some comfery oil rubbing it into your hands getting it nice and warm then massarge his shoulder leg etc give him some arnica tablets let him rest for 24 hours then walk him slowly for a few minutes pop him in a liile paddock on his own so he can walk around at his own pace keepoing it mobile as much as poss and that will help with circlation. give it a few days if worried at all of course ring the vets you might want to call physo but if he his in pain he will not want to be pulled about good luck!

Thanks everyone, he is much better already! I hadn't thought about arnica or comfrey but I'll certainly try both. he's already on devils claw so perhaps thats helping too.The way he polished off tea tonight makes me think he's not in too much agony!
